Ian B. Kasper

Ian Kasper is criminal defence lawyer based in Huntsville, Ontario. His practice includes a mix of trial and appellate work. He is called to the Bars of Ontario (2015), the Northwest Territories (2025), and Nunavut (2022). He is a member of the Pro Bono Inmate Appeal Program at the Court of Appeal for Ontario and a former coordinator for the Summary Conviction Appeal Court Duty Counsel program at the Toronto Superior Court of Justice. He regularly appears as counsel on trial and appellate matters in Ontario, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

In addition to his criminal practice, Ian acts as an agent for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer in child protection and secure treatment matters. He is also a Legal Officer within the Canadian Armed Forces, providing advice to reserve force units on various questions of military law.

Ian completed law school at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. He articled at Greenspan Humphrey Lavine (as it was then known). Following his call to the Ontario bar in 2015, he opened a sole practice in chambers in Toronto with a prominent criminal defence firm. In 2017, he joined Kapoor Barristers as an associate. In 2024, he founded Kasper Law.

In 2026, following the justice system’s transformative adoption of remote appearances, Ian moved his practice to Huntsville, Ontario. From his new location in Muskoka, Ian acts for clients across Canada. He looks forward to becoming involved in the local community. Outside of work, Ian is an avid curler and enjoys spending time with his rescue dog, Freya.
